HANSEL - a second orange boy

I first laid eyes on Hansel when I received the October 2006
AT Newsletter. In that newsletter there was a plea for someone to either
adopt or foster the "very unhappy" orange three-footed cat, who was
residing in the land around the AT Shelter, having made a break (through a
fly-screened window!) from the Shelter itself.
Hansel had previously been fostered, but his foster parents had left
Taiwan.

My little bundle of fun – Roxy

Roxy was an AT dog who was found on the
side of the street as a pup. She has always been a friendly dog and full of
life. However, at events I noticed that she would snap at a few people and
sometimes even children. So I decided to take Roxy home for some training, as I
have 3 other dogs and I thought the hierarchy of the pack might calm her down
and I would myself train her to be used to people taking away her food at any
time, playing with her and touching her all over. She fitted straight into our
family and made great friends with Pug. (All my dogs are strays found on the
street at some point.) Roxy also made friends with Gizmo, my little white
fluffy cat, although Giz wasn’t too happy about Roxy. ;)

So I was fostering Roxy and was responsible
for interviewing and prospective adopters. She went on a couple of try outs,
which made me both happy and sad. Happy to think that she might be going to a
good home, but sad to think that she might be leaving me.

After a few months of Roxy being with us
and a couple of adoptions falling through, I decided that Roxy shouldn’t be
pulled around any more and this was her home. Everyone around me already knew I
was going to keep her.

She absolutely loves attention from anyone
and everyone. She also loves meeting new four legged friends on the street. The
neighbourhood knows her well.

She is an invaluable member of our family,
but not to be the last. I’ll keep you posted of the new member coming sometime
in January. To be continued….Roxy with Pug

This is a photo of Deedee taken about three weeks after we found him.Deedee was abandoned (we assume) outside a 7eleven store in Bitan in early September 2005, near the southernmost MRT station of the Taipei network. He was suffering from a broken elbow, probably from being hit by a car. He couldn't walk too well, but he was adorable, so we immediately decided to adopt him.
